The Anglican Church of Melanesia run Care Centre on the eastern outskirts of Honiara has received more than 600-Australian dollars to help it to continue running its services for displaced mothers and children.
The money was given by the Solomon Islands community in Melbourne, Australia which had raised it through fundraising efforts.
The community consists of students studying in Melbourne and Solomon Islanders working and living there.
Solomon Islands student, George Pitakoe brought the money from Melbourne to the Care Centre.
When handing over the money to Sister Doreen Awaiasi and Sister Clairine of the Care Centre, Mr Pitakoe said his community members were happy to raise the funds to help women and children taking shelter there.
Sister Doreen acknowledged the assistance and the fundraisers, adding the Care Centre will always accept assistance because it continues to receive increasing requests for shelter from displaced mothers and children.
