WORK on a new tourism information office in Gizo, Western Province, funded by Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) has started.
Deputy Premier of Western Provincial Government (WPG) Wayne Maepio said the old building has been demolished to pave way for the new development.
Mr Maepio said the provincial government supports the new development because of the lucrative future of tourism for the province.
He said the new office will be equipped to help the many tourism operators who need to access information.
“Western Province has the highest visitation from tourists but the many tourism operators have very little knowledge about the industry.
“The completion of the new office will be a boost to improve the standard of tourism service offered by the province.”
Mr Maepio said the office is scheduled to complete mid this year.
