THE Solomon Islands Teachers Association has given the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCC) until June this year to address teacher’s long standing grievances.
With this given time, SINTA has called on the DCC to urgently address teachers’ concerns before June.
This call was made during the SINTA Annual General Meeting yesterday at the Honiara High School.
Speaking during the AGM, SINTA General Secretary Samson Faisi said, “DCC will be a fool if it continues to play the same game and same tactic used by the past successive governments because SINTA will stand up and fight more aggressively this time round”.
Mr Faisi said the DCC government must prioritise resolving teachers’ issues by taking them into account in the budget.
“The budget must accommodate teachers full travelling expenses, housing allowances and re-leveling.
“Failure to adhere to our genuine plea will leave SINTA with no option but to call for a nationwide strike before the start of the second academic term of 2015.
“We are doing it again if DCC fail to listen,” Mr Faisi added.
