The Solomon Islands Teachers Association (SINTA) yesterday held its Annual General meeting (AGM) at the Honiara High School Hall, Honiara.
The AGM scrutinized teachers long standing issues, including housing allowance, re-leveling, and leave passage issues.
The executive also looked at the amendment of SINTA constitution, the presentation of the SINTA Membership Fund SMF constitution as well as the election of SINTA’s new executive.
In his 2014 report, SINTA General Secretary Samson Faisi pointed out areas that the previous government failed to address, and what happened to the association as well as what the new government needs to seriously considers. (See separate story)
“We have been fighting and struggling against a political monster that did not listen to our cries.
“We need strong, passionate, charismatic, and zealous leaders to fight against a government that does not listen because teachers want a fair deal for so long now.
“I hope the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government will be different and recognizes teacher’s struggles and problems.
