The National U-16 team chances of advancing to the semi final will be decided after their match against Tahiti at 1pm today.
A win for Solomon Islands will secure them a position into the semi final stage while a draw will require them to score more than 11 goals against their final opponent the American Samoa.
Tahiti on Sunday have send a strong message to Solomon Islands that they are also considering their place into the semi final by defeating Tonga 13-0, a team that Solomon Islands defeated 10-1.
Vanuatu also showed their intentions early on in their game against Solomon Islands with 2-1 but they are also cautious of Tahiti.
They will take on Tahiti in their final match while Solomon Islands got the advantage to score high against the American Samoa.
But they will have to score more than 11 goals to beat the scoreline Tahiti gave to American Samoa.
Solomon Islands coach Jacob Moli after their lost to Vanuatu remains disappointed by the result but he is pleased by the attitude of his players.
”It was a close game but unfortunately we lost it.
”Despite the scorline was 2-1, the players were fighting until the end. I think it is the positive aspect of this game, he says.
He said the boys are now focusing on their game against the Tahiti.
