The biggest ever futsal tournament held on the Island of Ulawa in the Makira Ulawa Province during the Christmas festival ended successfully with the winner went away with $7000 cash prize.
The host Mwadjo’a scooped the top prize of $7000 cash and a trophy while their U-15 futsal team received $3000 cash.
The weeklong sporting event was hosted from December 26 to January 2.
It has attracted hundreds of spectators and 88 teams around the island.
Organizers of the tournament acknowledge the Member of Parliament for Ulawa Ugi, Honourable William Bradford Marau for his support towards hosting the sport event.
They said sports have motivated many young people and prevented them from engaging into drug and alcohol related activities
The tournament will become an annual event.
