The price of fuel in the country continues to drop since last year thanks to the increasing global oil supply.
And this has been a described as welcoming for many businesses and vehicle owners.
According to records obtained by the Solomon Star since last November the price of commodities such as kerosene, petrol and diesel continues to drop.
For instance in December, the price of diesel and petrol stands at more than $10.00. This month its at more than $8.00 as of yesterday.
The changes happen every month.
A check by the Solomon Star yesterday to one of the fuel stations in Honiara saw the price of petrol at $8.27 per litre while diesel at $8.75.
A number of vehicle owners who came into refuel yesterday acknowledged the drop because they can get more fuel than in the past.
The drop in price is due to increase global supply of oil after more oil fields have been discovered and came into operations.
However, although there is a drop in Honiara, in the rural areas the price of petrol remains at a higher level.
In a number of private fuel depots in Western province the price of petrol stands at $15 to $17.00 per litre.
