Dear Editor – It has been a while now since we’ve had a rugby 15s competition in Honiara and I would like to pose a question to the current HRUA executive of their plans for the year?
We are getting into the middle of the year and so far nothing has been heard of….with regard to when the competition will kick off.
Some clubs like Relas, Teofa and Henderson Hammerheads have already started training early in the year but are now finding problem with attendance because players see no use in training when they don’t have any idea when the season will start?
So I’m asking HRUA to come out with their plans for the season so that all the teams can get prepare.
I do acknowledge SIRUF for organizing two 7s tournaments over the Easter period, one for the clubs (HRUA should have done this) and the other for the high schools.
The rugby fans really enjoyed the two tournaments and are eager to see more…….and I’ve heard they are organising the high school 15s in the coming weeks as well…thumbs up SIRUF and keep up the good work.
Now comes back to HRUA…Honiara is under your jurisdiction and we want you to please get the games going….rugby players are eager to play and so are the fans and supporters are eager to watch.
Remember this is the World Cup year and we need to start passing the ball.
Thank you one and all and looking forward for more rugby actions this year.
