Y-Sato Marine, the sole distributor of Yamaha products in the country has officially opened its new mechanical storage facility at their head office in Honiara last Thursday.
The renovation exercise costs the company about SBD$2.5million and took them for about six months to complete.
The renovation was tendered and Hatanga Ltd was tasked to do the renovation.
Ahmed Rifai Y-Sato Consultant told the Solomon Star yesterday that the renovation work was to ensure the company had a world class marine workshop in Solomon Islands.
“It costs about SBD$2.5 million and took us 6 months to complete this new workshop.
“We did it because we want to have a world class marine workshop here in Solomon Islands.”
The workshop has been inspected by Yamaha officials from Japan & Australia and they were very pleased with the result, Mr Rifai said.
He said, the facility will be the only workshop in the country with qualified Yamaha technicians capable of servicing all Yamaha products.
“This facility will be the only workshop in Solomon Islands with qualified Yamaha technicians capable of servicing all Yamaha outboards and products that Y-Sato sells.
“Our technicians receive regular training from Yamaha Japan & Australia. We have also increased our range of spare parts to better service our customers. If we don’t have something in stock, we can ship it direct from Japan within 2 weeks.”
Y-Sato marine is selling Yamaha outboard motor engine, motor cycle, wave runners, generators and boats imported from Papua New Guinea (PNG) but licenced under Yamaha.
Yamaha also supplied two stroke and four stroke model.
Y-Sato Marine is located at Commonwealth Street, Point Cruz in the heart of the city.
