Green Beret Netball team were crowned the Paoa FM Super 8 Knockout competition champions at SMI ground last Saturday.
They walked away with $3000 cash and trophy after winning the final match against NGB’s in a 20-15 contest.
It was a happy day for all mothers who took part in the event, organised specifically to mark the Mother’s Day.
Also crowned champions are Bank South Pacific for winning the grand final of the volleyball against the voice of the nation SIBC girls.
They received $3000 and a trophy while SIBC Jets received $2000 cash and the second runners up Honiara Town Council team 2 received $1000 cash.
In the Futsal competition, Lio Ridge scooped the top prize after go head to head with ANZ team.
Both teams went to a lock at fulltime and went into the penalty shot outs but still could not find the winner.
They had to go for a five minute sudden death to determine the winner, which finally saw Lio Ridge winning from a controversial goal from Audrey.
They received a trophy and cash of $3000 while ANZ received $2000, while HTC collected $1000 in third place.
Another competition that got every mother on their feet was tug-of-war.
It was all fun for the mothers as they take on each other.
The top prize went to SOSA, who received two cartons of Red Horse and three packs of Solomon Taiyo sponsored by QQQ and Soltuna respectively.
First runner up prize of two cartons of Red Horse and two pack of canned tuna went to MID, while the third prize was won by CCWF.
For the consolation prizes the most cheerful mum for volleyball is Alice while the best player was awarded to Irene of SIBC.
For netball, the best player award went to Alice of NGB’s netball team while the golden hand was shared between Tina of NGB’s and Anne of ANZ netball team and the best fairest mum was awarded to Shalom Akao of SOSA.
In futsal, the best player award went to Mary from Damage team, best striker to Audrey of Lio Ridge, funniest player to Ethel of HCC and fairest team to Damage team.
The golden hand went to Regina of Lio Ridge.
Also receiving consolation prizes for best uniforms were ANZ and Eastern team.
Paoa FM acknowledged all the mothers and sponsors for participating in the event to celebrate Mothers Day.
