Aimela football club (FC) was crowned the 2015 Telekom sponsored soccer league in Auki, Malaita province.
This came after their final league match on Monday after they beat the mighty GB United by 3 goals to one (3-1.).
It was the first time for the league to be organized.
Aligegeo stadium was packed with soccer fans and supporters to witness the final league that it was descriebed as the league decider.
Aimela started off the match slowly and and attacked from every corner of the field.
Aimela took the lead in the 23rd minutes of play through Moses Misimake, the boys in orange extended their lead 10 minutes later by Linton Senle from a solo run and found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
GB United coming to pull one back in the second stanza but Aimela fc quickly responded through Moses Misimake to score his second goal to make it 3-1.
According to GB united coach John Isi, Aimela fc was the best team in the league.
“My boys accepted the result and we congratulate them for their achievements which they achieve in this year’s Our Telekom Malaita capital soccer league 2015.”
The happy man on the pitch was Aimela’s head coach Charles Irobina. He thanked GB United players for putting up a well fought match against my boys.
“We have confidents since the starting of the season for winning this league.
“We bowed out in the first round in the pre-season knockout and we have courage to enter the league with revenge.
“So I thank my boys for their hard work during training sessions and their time, patience and team work which we achieved and resulted as we crown 2015 our telekom malaita soccer league champions.”
The Malaita football association (MFA) thanked the management of Our telekom company for sponsoring all the prizes for the league.
MFA is looking forward for working together with the sponsor for the development of football in the province.
Aimela fc took the first a trophy plus $4,000-00 cash, second GB united $3,000-00 cash, third Rarasu fc $2,000-00 cash and the fourth prize Habourlight fc with $1,000-00 cash.
In the consolation prizes, golden hand (best goal keeper in the tournament) went to Ishmael Baura of Aimela fc, (a free mobile handset from our telekom.)
Fairest player goes to Charles Kala of GB United football club, (a free moblie handset from our telekom)
Golden boot award goes to Moses Misimake of Aimela fc a total of six (6) goals, a trophy plus $200-00 cash.
Fairest team award goes to HabourLight fc a trophy plus $500-00 cash.
