THE 2014/15 Honiara Football Association (HFA) league has successfully completed.
Wednesday’s match between Makuru FC and Marist FC concluded the HFA’s 2014/2015 league yesterday at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
HFA general secretary Leonard Paia on behalf of the HFA executive thanked all the participating football clubs for their support and hard work during the season.
“HFA executive wish to thank all the participating clubs for their support and hard work throughout the season,” he said.
“This season has covered a period of 2 long years starting round 1 in May 2014 and concluding round 2 in August 2015.
“The reason why the league has to go through two rounds is to fulfil the requirement for promotion and relegation.”
He added now that the league had successful ended, promotion and relegation of clubs from all three divisions will automatically commence.
“Last two clubs from the premier division will automatically relegated to division 1 and two top clubs from division 1 will be automatically promoted to the Premier division,’’ Paia stressed.
He said the last two clubs in division 1 will automatically relegated to division 2 and two top clubs from division 2 will automatically promoted to division 1.
“The last two clubs from division 2 will await for play-offs with two winners of the pre-season competition to decide on the last two clubs to fill the last two spaces in division 2.”
He also highlighted that the pre-season competition will consist of new clubs that wish to join HFA in the next season.
“But they have to come through pre-season competition and ensure that they are among the two top clubs of the competition to qualify for a play-off with the last two clubs of division 2 from this current season.”
He also confirmed that the tally standings after round 2 of the league determined who is being promoted and who is being relegated from each of the three divisions.
HFA general secretary admitted that it was a challenging time for both the HFA Executive and HFA participating clubs.
“But by everyone’s hard work, we were able to pull through and completed the league. “This leagues marks the second league season since the new HFA Executive came into power in January 2013.
Paia stressed, there are a lot of valuable lessons learned that will certainly assist both the HFA Executive and club managements to work on to improve further in the coming season.
He added, they are also looking at starting the pre-season competition in October 2015.
Thus, HFA is urging interested clubs to start preparing their teams and listen out for further information that will be send out in the media.
Meanwhile HFA executive has acknowledged the support of the referees association, physio and communities associated with each of the HFA clubs for their unwavering support that has enable a successful completion of HFA’s second season this year.
