A good number of women who are members of the Solomon Islands Artist Association (SIAA) have been confirmed to attend the upcoming Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) countries tradeshow and fair day in New Caledonia on November.
Association President Barney Rooney told the Solomon Star in an interview this week that half of the delegation are women.
“We would have a good number of women participants that will be part of the artist delegation to attend the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) countries tradeshow and fair day in New Caledonia on November.
“This group of women will be there to showcase their weaving skills and also there to do negotiation for Solomon Island products to be sold overseas,” Mr Rooney said.
He said preparation towards the event is well underway and SIAA are preparing to lead the delegation.
“At the moment SIAA is preparing each participants to showcase their local products during the event in New Caledonia.
“We are really happy to be part of the event because this is only time that SIAA will expose crafts and arts design to MSG countries in the pacific,” Mr Rooney said.
