Christ the King Parish – Tetere celebrated their Patronal Feast with great solemnity, focusing on the Sacrament of Confirmation on the Sunday.
The Solemn Eucharistic Celebration began at 10.00am presided over by Most Rev. Adrian Smith, Archbishop of Honiara, with Concelebrants Fr. Albert Lenon (Parish Priest), Frs. Joseph Thanh (Rector of Don Bosco Tetere) and Dominic Kachira (Rector of DBTI-Henderson).
Dancing children from Totoba village led the candidates for Confirmation, the Archbishop and the Concelebrants.
After the gospel reading, Paul Kaivini, representing the parish, presented 51 teenagers and young adults to the Archbishop as prepared and ready to receive the Sacrament.
The candidates were from 11 communities of the parish, the biggest number being from Talaura village. Mr. Paul mentioned that the candidates were being prepared since August.
In his homily, the Archbishop exhorted the Candidates and the Congregation, about choosing Christ as the king of hearts. He spoke of the Sacrament of Confirmation as the full initiation into the Christian community.
The candidates were confirming the choice made by their parents and godparents at their baptism as children. After the ceremony of confirmation, the Eucharist proceeded with melodious singing, the choir being led by Komuporo and Sali communities.
After the Communion service, the newly elected Parish Council was inducted for there two-year term of office.
Rev. Fr. Albert Lenon, the Parish Priest, presented the newly elected Council for 2016 and 2017.
Moses Tate ( President), Richard Rava (Vice President), Francis Toki (Secretary), and Kathy Manengelea (Treasurer). The outgoing President, Mr. John Manengelea and his term were acknowledged and thanked for their service to the Parish.
The Sunday School children performed action songs, wearing “kingly crowns” to mark the Solemnity of Christ the King.
Lotu over, it was time for kaikai and celebrations. The light showers signified heavenly blessings!
