SOLOMON Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) is currently conducting a cooperate governance workshop at the Iron Bottom Sound (IBS), in Honiara starting yesterday.
The weeklong workshop is targeting the Board of Directors and directors of various businesses in the country that are members of SICCI.
It is an SICCI initiative to conduct cooperate governance training on company Board of Directors and directors.
According to a senior executive officer of SICCI James Dolarii, the goal of the workshop is to reassure the roles and responsibilities of those that hold the director’s post within the business industry of the country.
He added that, after the training is completed, SICCI will create a database on potential directors who will be eligible and who have met the criteria that the particular organization may want.
Those that will be included in the database will be selected from the participants of the training after going through a thorough selection criteria.
Mr Dolarii told the Solomon Star that, once this initiative succeeds, it will help any business organisation or any State Owned Enterprise (SOE) in getting the right person for the job.
It was understood that, the current training is the third for this year. It is being funded by DFAT through AusAid with special support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and New Zealand aid.
