Dear Editor – I write purposely to clarify to your readers’ the payment received by SIPA Board members.
There are obvious incorrect information carried in articles ‘Hefty bonues revealed’ and ‘PS clarifies, admits hefty SIPA payment’ published in the Solomon Star issue No. 6139 and Sunday Star 2oth March respectively.
As permanent secretary responsible for SIPA and Deputy Chairman of SIPA Board I denied confirming that SIPA Board members did recieved a huge payment from SIPA CEO Collin Yow, nor did I admitted that the payment was received on separate occasions. I have been misquoted in both occasions thus this response.
The new SIPA Board members received each only cash payment last month for an amount less than 5% of figures reported in the media as hefty bonus received by SIPA Board members.
The payment was the new SIPA Board’s first after it was formally appointed early this year and no other payments were received by the Board thereafter or on separate occasions.
If the payment already received by the new SIPA Board members was considered huge or excessive compared to what previous Board members received then its only proper we return what belongs to SIPA.
Any claims that SIPA Board members recieved hefty bonuses from SIPA on separate occasions is not true.
I hope this clarifies the payment received by SIPA Board members last month.
