SOLOMON Islands Tourism Industry Council (SITIC) has successfully staged an Open Day, at the National Museum in Point Cruz last Friday.
The Council has been in existence for the last seven years.
‘Developing Tourism in Solomon Islands through Alliance’ was the theme for the Open Day.
SITIC’s vision is to provide members, associates and affiliation members with the platform to contribute and benefit from activities design in liaison with the related leisure, travel, tourism and hospitality industries in the Solomon Islands.
Speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Andrew Nihopara said, the event marks an achievement in the existence of the Council in the tourism sector and in the country.
“The event we are witnessing today (Friday) is a demonstration of the cooperation and working together that we would like to see in our tourism sector.
“The DCC Government places high priority on the tourism sector.
“Through my Ministry, the Government of the Day is committed to be a key partner with the private sector to drive the growth of the tourism sector in our country,” Mr Nihopara said.
He added that, the theme for the event is very relevant today as his Ministry embarks on fostering new levels of cooperation and partnership with the private sector in its efforts to make tourism a significant sector for the economic growth of the country.
Mr Nihopara also congratulates the Council’s President and the Executive Committee for organizing the event and said his Ministry is looking forward to work closely with SITIC.
“Ministry looks forward to working with the Council’s Executive Committee and its members to drive the growth of the sector.
“I would like to congratulate the Solomon Islands Tourism Industry Council Executive Members for taking this very timely initiative in organizing the Open Day.
“As the PS responsible for Tourism, we will continue to support the Council and its members in your work.
