Form six students of Bishop Epalle Secondary School (BESS) visited Visale parish in Northwest Guadalcanal over the weekend during a retreat.
This was to prepare them for their external examination next month.
Northwest Guadalcanal Solomon Star stringer John Toki quoted the form six arts student Michael Anisi as saying it was a wonderful trip to go out and visit a community like Visale.
“It is mind-refreshing and enjoyable, since they are preparing towards their final examination next month.”
The visit was to mark the special event of retreat, which according to the Catholic faith retreat refreshes, revitalizes and gives the opportunity for more time spent in prayer and contemplation, and rekindles and deepens one’s relationship with God.
The purpose of a spiritual retreat, as an addition to daily spiritual activities, is to temporarily leave behind the usual distractions we all face for a time long enough to allow relaxation and for an inner change to occur: the ongoing conversion of heart that is critical to deepening faith.
Anisi told the Solomon Star stringer that the theme for this year is ‘Whom am I’ which he elaborated that it is a short question of three words, but it will takes people many years to realise who they are.
He added it is a special event for them as students are anticipating for their final examinations to determine their future.
Therefore he reiterated “all form six students throughout Solomon Islands must trust themselves and not give up in their studies towards the exam day.”
He concluded saying, “students must take time to look back in the past six years of schooling since attending form one and look ahead to the future, as God will help them to progress in life.”
