Three medical students from Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial hospital, Taiwan, are in the country to assist the victims affected by the recent flash flood.
The team was led by a team leader Ms. Sophine Wang and included Dr Engene Chang and Dr Andy Hsieh.
The trio have spent a week already and have visited three evacuation centres giving medication to flood victims.
They will be here for three months in the country visiting victims in Honiara and possibly other provinces according to the Taiwan Embassy Secretary David Li.
He said that the three are in the country to provide medical service to the victims to ensure that their health is protected.
Because of the outbreaks of diseases experience after the flood, they were giving their own time to come over and help, he said.
“We hope that our help would reduce such cases and help the victims slowly recover.”
Mr Li added that more medications will be arriving by the end of this month from Taiwan for the team to distribute to the provinces.
On Saturday the team visited KGVI evacuation centre and provided medical assistance to the victims.
Wency Ramo’oroa thanked the free medical aid Taiwan offer to the victims.
He said that people’s health is important and ensuring people live a healthy live is vital.
“We need medical staff to visit us regularly to ensure that our health is protected,” said Ramo’oroa.
