AN Anglican priest of the Church of Melanesia, Father Benedict Garemane says now the Solovisu Program has ended on the Weather-Coast, a new one should start on North and Central Guadalcanal.
He said the government and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands should now start thinking about reconciling villagers of the two constituencies who were hostile to each during the ethnic conflicts more than a decade ago and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
Fr Garemane said the people of North and Central Guadalcanal also suffered the atrocities committed by members of the Joint Operation of the Police Force and the former Malaita Eagle Force in the ethnic conflicts.
He said the operation caused one death and the destruction of schools, water tanks and a clinic.
Fr Garemane said following reconciliation ceremonies between the Police Force and the people of North and Central Guadalcanal, rehabilitation could then start.
