THE people of Sigana ward in the Gao/Bugotu Constituency of Isabel Province have recently expressed satisfaction at the peaceful ending of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR).
The eligible people to vote in the Sigana ward have shown the desire to exercise their rights as citizens of this country and turned up at the Registration Centres in good numbers and registered their names.
Bugotu Chief Hugh Tazzy Bogese said, as the registration was now over, the people of Sigana ward are eagerly looking forward for the up-coming National General Election later on this year.
He said that the people are now appealing to their intending candidates for Gao/Bugotu Constituency to carefully take note and consider the priority areas for development in the constituency.
Chief Bogese said that the important development areas that the people would like to see being developed in the constituency are infrastructure, transportation and communications, tourism, health services, education and livelihood of the people.
He added that although some of these areas have been developed or being given assistance in the past, they need continuous funding support and maintenance from their leaders both in the provincial and the national governments.
Chief Bogese further urged all intending candidates to seriously consider these priority areas for development in the Gao/Bugotu constituency for the next 4 years.
He said that Gao/Bugotu constituency is in dire need of developing these areas if we are expecting our people to enjoy their livelihood and at least meet some of the Millennium Development Goals by year 2015.
He added that if intending candidates for the upcoming national general election expect the people to vote for them, they must show that they have development plans for the constituency and at least convince the people that they are serious about developing the constituency and the livelihood of its people.
