Kolobangara Forestry Products Limited (KFPL) held four days of employment and recruitment awareness on Rannogah Island, Western province last week.
The awareness program was aimed at giving information on the right procedure people in the rural area can following if they want to work for KFPL and in the tree plantations.
The awareness program started off at Lale village in the south of Ranoggah and ended on Wednesday at Buri in the north.
KFPL personal manager Mason Nesa told the Solomon Star from Gizo that the awareness was to educate people on Rannogah of a right procedure on how to be employed by KFPL.
“We decided to choose Rannogah because there are active and willing to work unlike other islands in the Western province.”
The recruitment process following an acute labour shortage by the company at its tree plantation.
He said they encourage the people on the island to apply in order to earn extra income for their families.
From Ranoggah, the team travelled across Vela La Vela conducted similar awareness program.
“We want people on these two islands to come and work for us since we have labour setback in our plantation.”
He said the company needs more labour as it continues to expand.
