Pana festival has been proposed as the next event to be held in Florida Island next year.
This was revealed by Director of Pata Sauragi Home stay Peter Sagupari to the Solomon Star during the official closing of the 3rd yacht festival held at Roderick Hideaway accommodation on Friday.
Mr Sagupari said the pana festival would be the next event Florida operators are planning next year.
“If Makira can organise the banana festival then Gela can follow the same footstep since we have hundreds of pana varieties around Ngela island.
“Therefore our next event would be pana festival,” Mr Sagupari said.
He pointed out that one way of attracting tourists to the province is through the staging of festival.
“Festival is a powerful promotional tool therefore we would organise this event.
“Gela is just close to Honiara so the plan would be possible,’’he said.
However Mr Sagupari urged provincial government and national government to support them about the plan.
“I urged gov’t and non-government-organisation to come and help us out with this event”
“We can’t able to make it possible unless you stretch out your hands to us then this plan can be possible. Therefore I urge every operators and gov’t organisation in the country to come and help us by making this plan possible,” he said.
