With increased passenger traffic between the Solomon Islands and New Zealand, Solomon Islands national carrier Solomon Airlines has appointed a General Sales Agent (GSA) in New Zealand.
The new GSA, Airline Marketing New Zealand, has been appointed with immediate effect.
Under the GSA agreement the company will provide Solomon Airlines with all passenger sales, marketing, reservations and ticketing services as well as BSP ticketing support.
Airline Marketing New Zealand will also work closely with key industry partners in New Zealand to further develop business for the airline and in addition, collaborate with the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) to expand New Zealand visitation numbers to the destination.
Speaking to media while announcing the appointment, Gus Kraus, Solomon Airlines general manager operations and commercial said the arrangement was intended to have major impact on the airline’s business development within the New Zealand market.
Airline Marketing New Zealand is the sister company of Airline Marketing Australia, both of which are the airline representation subsidiaries of the Consolidated Travel Group, the largest privately owned distributor of airline products in Australasia.
Solomon Airlines currently operates regular return services from Honiara to Brisbane, Fiji and Vanuatu and as well as an extensive domestic network around the country.
The airline’s major international connections include New Zealand where it enjoys interline agreements with both Air New Zealand and Qantas Airways.
Solomon Islands also opened an embassy in Wellington, New Zealand, earlier this year.
