Solomon Islands Director of Tourism and chairman of the Our Telekom National Tourism Forum planning committee, Barney Sivoro has expressed his delight and appreciation for the huge support and backing received for the 29 August event to date.
Mr Sivoro said the committee had been overwhelmed with the support received from both the local tourism industry and the corporate sector.
In addition to Our Telekom, he said, further support has now been received from the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA), the National Fisheries Development Ltd (NFD), the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) and the venue host, the Heritage Park Hotel.
“The tourism sector has been earmarked as having a significant effect on the future of all Solomon Islanders and quite rightly deserves all the attention and support it can get,“ Mr Sivoro said.
“So it is fantastic to see the corporate sector put up its hands to get involved.
“Each and every one of these partners recognises and is in no doubt whatsoever as to the role tourism already plays and will play in the overall development of our nation’s economy in the years ahead.
“In keeping with the event’s ‘STEP CHANGE’ approach, all of our partners have certainly ‘stepped’ up to show their support and we are very grateful.
“These partners have set a shining example to the entire business community and we warmly invite and hope to hear from other potential partners keen on joining in this significant event as soon as possible.”
