A High Court judge will today sentence the man who was found guilty of raping a student way back in 2010 in Western Province.
Dick Alu, the 41 year-old father four was found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial in Gizo during a High Court circuit there last month.
He raped the victim who was 19 years old in an outboard motor canoe and at Gizo between 12 midnight of June 1 and 2am of June 2, 2010.
The accused whom is the boat driver did not drop the victim off at her village at Vela Island despite pleas for him to do so.
After dropping off other people on the boat to their village, Alu then turn the boat back to Gizo with only him and the victim on the boat.
The victim boarded the boat from Gizo intending to spend the weekend at her village but got raped.
Alu is represented by Benham Ifuto’o of Public Solicitor’s Office while Crown Prosecutor Andrew Kelesi represents the State.
