POLICE will be searching for an alleged arsonist who failed to turn up on Monday in court for the setting of his trial date.
This followed a warrant of arrest that has been issued for the accused John Makasi on Monday in the Honiara Magistrate Court.
He was supposed to turn up so that a trial date can be fixed, but have failed to do so.
Makasi is facing charges of arson in relation to an allegation between July 1 and July 21, 2008 at Marovo, Western Province.
Prosecution alleged he set fire to three bulldozers owned by Earthmover’s company.
He was allegedly procured by his co-accused to do commit the offence.
His co-accused, who masterminded the arson, was already sentenced in 2011 after he was found guilty following a trial.
The Public Solicitor’s Office is representing Makasi while the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions appeared for the State.
