The deteriorating road condition in Malaita’s headquarter, Auki has concerned transport owners.
A bus owner said the roads are developing pot holes but no efforts are being made to fix them.
“It has been a while now and the condition of the roads a deteriorating faster.
“The provincial government must do something about this before the cost of repair mounts even dearer.”
The bus owner said the township is the focus of visitors therefore road conditions must be good.
“Avoiding pools of water every day in the town centre is unacceptable. I am of minimal hope that the provincial authorities will do something because it looks as if they are asleep and are financially handicap.
Several attempts to talk to the provincial Ministry of Infrastructure and Development yesterday was unsuccessful.
