PRIVATE contractors have raised concerns over the government’s delay in releasing funds to complete various tenders and contractual jobs.
Many of the contractors who have been engaged by various Government Ministries said that their works are delayed due to the government’s continuous delay in releasing funds to complete each of their respective projects.
“Time and time again we have been informed by the various Ministries we are engaged with that they will release the funds needed to complete our projects.
“Some of us have been waiting for up to six months now and nothing has yet been recieved,” a spokesperson for the group of contractors said.
He said that contractors will continue to wait upon the government.
“Those of us who won tenders from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Police are still waiting on the Government to release these funds.
“These projects from our knowledge have funds readily available but the delay indicates to us that the government is either financially handicapped or the funds misused.
“We can continue to speculate, but what else can we say or think of when all the responses we have recieved from the government were that there are no money for these projects?”
Meanwhile sources have revealed that cash flow is one of the major problems the government is facing, resulting in the slow release of funds.
