Six masked men armed with knives and foreign objects robbed a shop at the Discount area, Ranadi in East Honiara and took off with $3,000 cash and four (4) mobile phones Friday night.
Sauru shop fell victim during the incident which occurred at the around 7:30 pm on Friday evening.
Reports said these men threatened the shop owner before removing the cash and phones the shop and escaped.
Owner of Saura shop Willie Guan in an interview with the Solomon Star yesterday at his shop at Ranadi said the men wearing masks were fully armed with knives when they entered his shop.
“We were about to close for the evening when these masked men entered our shop threatened us with the knives and took away hard cash worth of $3,000 and four (4) mobile phones used for our top-up in our shop.
“We couldn’t do anything since they were armed with knives and wear mask when they attached us,” Mr Guan said.
Mr Guan said the six men entered the shop demanded money and the mobile phones and walked out towards the Bank South Pacific (BSP) bank area.
“After they left my shop, they walked out towards the BSP bank where they disappear.
“We couldn’t see where they went, either they get into a cab or not but they disappear at the BSP area,” the disappointing shop owner recalled.
Mr Guan said the incident has been reported to the police soon after the incident and police is already aware of the incident.
He said so far two suspects have been captured.
“My security worker had intercepted two boys so far while of them are still at large.
“Police is believed to have questioned the two men,” Mr Guan said.
Meanwhile a bus driver who witnessed the incident while stopping by at the Discount area said he saw the men walked out the shop armed knives while wearing mask.
The driver who declined to be the men disappeared in front of the BSP area.
“I was there in the bus to pick up passengers for King George when the incident occurred.
“I heard people screaming in the shop when the robbers entered the shop. It was fast and well organised. After they got the money and phones they went out walked towards the BSP area which I believe a car was waiting for them before they disappeared,” he said.
