MEASLES cases in Malaita province continues to rise with the Kilufi’i hospital recording one death last Tuesday.
Reports said the measles related death involved a 20 years old female.
A nurse in charge at the Kilufi’i outpatient said the death occurred last week after the patient was recovering.
“The rash on her body disappeared and she was about to be discharged from the hospital,” the nurse said.
She explained the young female was recovering but had severe diarrhoea which led to her death.
Meanwhile Malaita health authorities have encouraged everyone between the age of six months to 30 years to get their vaccination.
