A People’s Alliance Party (PAP) Government will set up a Ministry of Information which will be tasked with disseminating government news to the public through the mass media.
The Party reveals its plan after it has been informed by reliable sources from the Prime Minister’s Office about a government plan to dismantle the Government Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The People’s Alliance Party said it is worried about the plan, which its President, former Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena describes as a move in the wrong direction.
He said the Government Communications Unit is the government’s mouthpiece.
