The Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening has warned members of the Renbel Provincial Assembly that they have no authority to use or have access to money belonging to the province.
The Ministry sounded out the warning yesterday in a public notice following the suspension of executive powers of the Premier and Government of Rennell and Bellona Province.
The public notice warns businesses and private individuals that they should be aware members of the Renbel Provincial Assembly no longer have authority to use or have access to the provincial money.
It said provincial money includes ward development grants which have been cancelled.
The Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening said any money owed to the province in fees, taxes, rates or the like must be paid directly to the Provincial Secretary or the Provincial Treasurer.
It added the Provincial Secretary of Rennell and Bellona Province has assumed all executive control over the province since September 4.
The public notice added any member who incurs a debt as from the suspension day is personally responsible to settle it as provincial money will not be used to settle debts.
