Widows, widowers and disable people from U’ura community in Central Kwara’ae in Malaita province received gifts from Hearts of Hope organization yesterday.
The organization which registered under the Charitable Act has visited almost every village in central Kwara’ae to give gifts to the elderly and unfortunate people.
Speaking during the program Hearts of Hope president Ms Janet Justice Aihari said, this year is a successful year for the organisation.
She said many people have supported them by donating money and other items during their programs and visitation to communities.
Ms Aihari said almost every community they have visited, the widows, widowers and the disable people were emotional when they received the gifts.
“They feel that someone is there to help them.”
Ms Aihari also stated that this is one of the principles in the Bible to help the needy and to help those who are helpless.
“So we must put it into action and not to preach it without doing anything.”
She said this year her group will visit four more communities before wrapping up the year.
Also speaking during the program was a Japanese volunteer Ms Hirowho said its a good program to support these kinds of people.
“These people have no support from communities, churches or even government to meet their basic needs.”
Ms Hiro added, she hopes this program will expand to other regions in Malaita province depending on the support through donations from other good-hearted.
Speaking on half of the community, a widow and leader Ms Grace Dukuri’i said, they are honoured to be given such a support.
“We thank you Hearts of Hope in visiting and supporting us with this kind of gifts because we have no one to provide them for us.”
