More than 20 rural nurses in South Malaita are undergoing stock management training at Afio substation, Small Malaita this week.
Those nurses came from 23 clinics and health centers in the southern region.
The four day workshop which was aimed at equipping the nurses with stock management knowledge started Monday this week and will close on Thursday.
In an interview with the Solomon Star at Afio on Wednesday, facilitator Philip Wakioasi who is also a principal pharmacy officer said that this is an important workshop for rural nurses.
He revealed that this workshop is sponsored by the ministry of provincial health to recap the idea of managing the stocks especially in local health centers in rural areas like these.
He added that many clinics have run out of medicines due to lack of good management of stocks.
Mr Wakioasi said that the workshop will also revise the idea of giving the right treatments for patients.
“During the workshop, the participants will also visit the Afio clinic and other health centers to see the management of medication in those clinics,” he said.
Meanwhile, a participant Stanley Hou thanked the ministry for the training which really benefit the rural nurses in that region.
“The workshop is very good because it helps us with idea of management of stocks and right things to do with the patients.
“I on behald of the participants must thank the facilitator Wakioasi for allowing his time with us because we really benefit from such workshop and we need more training in the future if possible,” Mr. Hou said.
