BUSINESSES who do not meet health requirements set by the Honiara City Council (HCC) will be forced to shut down.
Ben Abana of the HCC’s Health Inspection team revealed this on Monday.
He said that so far several businesses, mostly shops and mini restaurants (Kai bars) have been given letters to improve their drainages, septics and also follow hygiene rules before continuing their operations or be forced to close their doors.
“We have already handed out several letters to businesses who do not meet the HCC’s health and hygiene standards.
“We will continue to asses various business and check for their products make sure they do not sell expired products to the public,” Mr Abana said.
HCC has continued with its exercise of cracking down on the illegal erection of buildings, unlicensed businesses and also selling of expired food products after complaints raised by the public of the past five months.
