Makira/Ulawa provincial police is concerned with increasing incidence of youths using marijuana and alcohol.
Makira Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Richard Hane said his office had received reports from communities regarding youths involving in alcohol and drugs.
“We have received reports from communities about the increasing numbers of youths involvement in the selling of marijuana and alcohol,” Mr Hane said.
He said his officers will investigate these reports and those found will be prosecuted.
With the upcoming national general election getting closer Mr Hane said public must work together with his officers to address such issues.
He said Police will not be tolerating such behaviour.
“I call on all those who are involved in such practice to stop.
“My officers will continue to search for those who are involved in selling of liquor and drug.”
Meanwhile Mr Hane said his team will join the election team to conduct awareness talks in the communities in the lead up to the election day.
