More than 500 young men and women representing 10 youth groups and associations within South –west Ngella ward of Central province recently gathered in Siarana community for three (3) days to mark international youth day celebration 2014.
The celebration was officially opened by the Honorable Premier of Central Province, witnessed by representative from the Youth Development Division of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children & Family Affairs, the Provincial Youth office, with members of the Provincial Executive and other invited guests.
Based on the theme “Youth & Mental Health,” workshops and awareness raising sessions were focused on the causes of mental health and its impact upon young individuals and the community at large.
Facilitators were from Tulagi Police, Mental Health Division, the Reproductive Health Division, the office of the Assembly, the Provincial youth office, as well as from the Youth Development Division of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children & Family Affairs.
The celebration closed with sporting activities and a choir competition.
