North Guadalcanal Chief, Benedict Garimane, is calling on the Attorney General to explain whether or not it is legal for former Members of Parliament to continue to have access to state funds.
Chief Garimane claimed some of the MPs of the dissolved Ninth Parliament continue to buy building materials and dish out state funds to finance their constituents’ projects.
He said some constituents believe it is wrong for the outgoing MPs to give money and goods to people after the Ninth Parliament’s dissolution, because it is now the election campaigning period.
“I think giving out money and goods by the former MPs is a form of bribery and vote support.”
He said dishing out money and goods now could also result in election petitions after the national elections.
