A TWO day workshop on Ecosystem Approach Fisheries Management (EAFM) held at Rarasu restaurant Auki, Malaita Province will end today.
The two days workshop was organised and facilitate by World Fish Organization (WFO) based in Auki.
The purpose of the training is to get update from each representative (participates) from the communities to present feedback of ecosystem and rehabilitation of habitat activities establish in their local areas.
World Fish officer Bobo Meshach said the training was vital for the participants to gain wider knowledge about ecosystem fisheries management.
“We want to encourage participants to gain knowledge about EAFM and build on from here adding such training would help communities and the province,” he said.
He also thanked the participants for showing their interest to take part in the workshop.
During the workshop there were discussions and presentations segments.
About 15 participate from communities in and around Auki attended the workshop.
The same program was held in 2012.
European Union (EU) in collaboration with World Fish funded the program.
