THE High Court trial of men accused of murdering a young diplomat in 2012 outside the central market starts today.
The hearing was adjourned yesterday in order for the prosecution to sort out the charges against the men before the trial can start today.
One of the four men, John Tii who was19 at the time of the alleged offending has already pleaded guilty to the murder and will not be part of the trial hearing.
The three who will stand trial before Justice Francis Mwanesalua are Cecil Manu, 36, Peter Diau, 20 and Simon Peter 24.
The alleged killing took place on the early hours of April 21, 2012 outside of the Honiara Market.
It was alleged that the deceased stopped and stepped out of his car to confront the men who put up a road block when he was attacked.
Prosecution alleged the men attacked and stabbed the deceased.
The deceased died shortly after he was rushed to the National Referral Hospital.
Sarah Karani, Nigel Galo, George Gray and Gina Nott of the Public Solicitor’s Office represent the accused men.
Representing the State are Crown Prosecutor Miriam Manata and the Director of Public Prosecutions Ronald Bei Talasasa.
