PERMANENT Secretary (PS) of Ministry of Education and Human Resources calls for proactive action from people engaged to implement the National Education Action Plan (NEAP) 2013-2014.
Dr Franco Rhodie stressed this when he opened the annual joint Review of the Education Sector at Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) conference room, Tuesday.
“We need to think outside the box if we are to effectively and efficiently implement our programmes and activities.
“Remember our people are impatient with us in terms of us achieving the outcomes of our education reform,” he said.
Dr Rhodie said their children in schools in particular wish to access educational opportunities and curriculum materials and other learning resources so that they can achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams.
“Our children and young people deserve quality education to be able to acquire appropriate skills, knowledge and develop good attitudes and behaviour that can assist them to contribute to nation building and be prepared for the 21st Century challenges.
“How well we manage the finances we access as well as the available resources we utilise will determine whether our children and young people will have increased access to education, and an improved quality of education which can positively influence students’ learning achievements,” he said.
Dr Rhodie said it will also contribute towards an effective and efficient managed education system that not only serves its customers with high standards, but also monitor resources efficiently and cost-effectively.
“These are our goals for improving our education system, which we must realise.
“The onus is on us Solomon Islanders to make this happen,” he said.
