TO stop corruption, we must not vote in corrupt leaders.
That’s according to former parliamentarian and statesman Sir Nathaniel Waena, during a political parties media forum, yesterday.
“Corruption is not an external issue. It starts from the heart of man,” the president of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) said.
“If we want to eliminate corruption in this nation we need honest leaders with integrity to work in government institutions and ministries.
“We need clean politicians to represent us in parliament to ensure resources are not politicised, but used for their intended purpose for the benefit of everyone.”
Sir Nathaniel said corruption is evident in cabinet and other government institutions because people who are working there are corrupt within themselves.
“If our heart is right we cannot experience corruption”.
He said the time has arrived to elect righteousness leaders to serve in the political arena.
Meanwhile, PAP general secretary Edward Kingmele said the nation is extremely blessed with abundance of resources but because of corruption, we remain poor.
“Solomon Islanders cannot and will not benefit from their resources because corrupt leaders will always serve their own political interests,” Mr Kingmele said.
“It’s possible for us to stop depending on aid money and we can utilise our resources as revenue earner for the country.”
PAP, United Democratic Party, and Kadere Party participated in yesterday’s forum.
