Caretaker Lord Mayor of Honiara City Council (HCC) is appealing to all registered voters in Honiara constituencies to accept whatever results that would come out this week from yesterday’s National General Election.
In an interview with the Solomon Star after casting his vote at the White River School Poling station yesterday morning, Andrew Mua said the turnout of voters was very good and election was well organised.
“I can see that many voters were very excited and have freely cast their votes and it shows that supporters and candidates have respect for each other,” he said.
With counting expected to start today in many constituencies, Mr Mua said people should know who will lead them in the next four years at their Member of Parliament (MP) at the end of the week.
The Lord Mayor who was amongst the first group to cast his ballot has appealed to people in the three city constituencies to accept whatever the election result that may come out.
“I’m appealing to all my good people of west, central and east Honiara constituencies to accept whatever result that would be announced this week.
“Whoever that wins this election will be our leader for the next four years, therefore we must accept the result and not to do anything that may cause problems,” Mr Mua said yesterday.
