Mathew Cooper Wale has secured the Aoke-Langalanga seat for his third term, polling 2,760 votes in a dramatic election victory declared at provincial capital Auki, on Saturday.
Returning Officer Charles Kaula announced the results after three days of counting.
His runner up is David Faradatolo, who polled 1,966 votes – bringing the winning margin to 794 votes.
Tony Wale came third with 979 votes. Wilson Giloa Ne’e recorded 784 votes to hold the fourth place.
Other candidates are: Robert Wales Feratalia, 26votes; Peter Kobiloko, 24 votes; and John Jarett Maga, 2 votes.
A total of 6,582 ballots were casted, according to the records.
Aoke-Langalanga has a total registered voter list of 3,608.
Kaula said the counting went smoothly and peacefully.
He congratulated his team and electoral officers for a job well done.
Wale, a prominent and outspoken politician in the last House, was first elected in a by-election in 2008 following the death of Bartholomew Ulufa’alu.
He went on to win the 2010 elections.
