PROVINCIAL Health Director for Western Province has thanked members of a visiting United States (US) medical team who are currently conducting free medical check-ups and awareness around Marovo communities.
Dr Gregory Jilini said such initiative is welcoming for the province, because it had offered opportunity for the rural people to access a much more better health service from top overseas medical doctors.
On Monday the team spent time at Telina village in Central Marovo, to conduct check-ups and provide health awareness.
Reports reaching the paper said many people in and around Telina took advantage of the opportunity to get treatment.
Throughout this week they are moving from one place to another.
Dr Gregory said Solomon Island is a scattered nation with insufficient health resources and this makes it harder for government to assist all the rural communities in terms of providing better health services.
Therefeore, the support provided by the US medical team is much appreciated, the provincial health director said.
“As the health director responsible for the province, I would like to thank the team for their wonderful contribution to our health system.”
The initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Uepi resort and Seghe Health Centre.
