Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) of North Guadalcanal Constituency says he welcomes any petition taken against him by outgoing and ousted Member of Parliament (MP) for North Guadalcanal Constituency Martin Sopage.
This follows rumours the ousted MP is planing to lodge a petition.
Speaking to the Solomon Star yesterday Samson Maneka said; “I already heard news that outgoing MP is planning to lodge a petition against my election victory.
“But I would like to tell Mr Sopage that I welcome any petition or court case he intends to take up against me, because I know my win was clean.’’
Speaking in an interview at Honiara Hotel, where he is currently camping, teaming with a number of MPs there Mr Maneka said, his win was not wrong and corrupt.
“I did not do any wrong or corrupt so that he can open up a petition case against my victory.
“To tell everyone, I prepared for this election over the last four years by working closely with communities and chiefs and so I already know I will win this election and I have proved that right, so wining this election is clean and transparent,” Mr Maneka said.
Meanwhile, Mr Maneka thanked the former MP for the last eight years as MP of North Guadalcanal constituency.
“I would like thank my outgoing colleague for the good works he had been doing since he came into power.
“I urged him to come forward like other losing candidate in our constituency to carry forward some of the incomplete plans in our constituency,” said Mr Maneka who is a new comer in the political arena.
Mr Maneka has been contesting twice during 2006 and 2010.
