HONIARA City Council (HCC) will adopt the same system used in this year’s national general election for its election.
Legal officer of City Council Vincent Kohata explained that city council has mended certain sections of council’s regulation to adopt the same system used during the recent national general election.
Kohata said some of the amendments include the use of the same registration list used during the national general election under the new Biometric Voter Registration.
He said other amendments include all procedures of counting and appreciation used which will be similar as that of the national election.
Adding, that nomination fee has increased from $200 to $500 and that the one ballot box system will also be used during polling day.
He stressed that apart from those amendments, all other provisions remain the same in the HCC electoral regulation.
