NEWLY elected Member of Parliament for Gizo/Kolombangara Jimson Tanangada was given a warm welcome by President of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Sir Thomas Chan, its members, and supporters on Wednesday.
Mr Tanangada arrived in Honiara from Gizo around lunch time.
He was greeted and cheered by Sir Tommy and other party members for his overwhelming victory.
Mr Tanangada ousted caretaker Prime Minister and former Member of Parliament Gordon Darcy Lilo.
UDP, which won five seats in the November 19 polls, are camping at Honiara Hotel.
During the brief welcome ceremony, Sir Tommy also welcomed members and supporters.
UDP is currently having talks with other parties and independents to form the next government.
