CARETAKER Malaita premier Edwin Suibaea yesterday has acknowledged newly elected Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare for taking up the top job in the country.
The Member of Parliament for East Choiseul has defeated his opponent Jeremiah Manele to claim victory for the third time in office.
Speaking to this paper shortly after the declaration of the result, Mr Suibaea raised his hands in Malu’u to congratulate the new PM Sogavare.
“I must congratulate Sogavare on behalf of the Malaita province for taking up the top job in the country,” he said.
He added that the result has shown that he (Sogavare) was the choice of the people for this nation.
“This is the one we have been waiting to perform his kind of quality leadership that has been missing for a long time in the country,” he revealed.
Mr Suibaea stated that he was very happy with the result and would like to urge the Sogavare led government to make differences during his term in office starting from now and onwards.
“The past government is full of cunning ideas on Malaita province with fruitless developments projects for our beloved province that makes us heads down at the moment.
“On this note, I on behald of Malaitans to wish you Sogavare government all the best in office to fulfil your goals for the country,” Mr Suibaea said.
He believes the next Malaita provincial assembly will work together with the new government to fulfill one or two major projects on Malaita to boost the economy.
“Lets work together to create a new comfort place for all our good citizens in the country and provinces that everyone will feel the government in their homes.”
Meanwhile, Mr Suibaea has appealed to all Malaitans both in the province and Honiara to respect the result and stay away from causing any disturbances.
